Uber Reveals Launching New Global Tech Hub in Istanbul
This facility will be the company’s fourth such hub outside the United States, following existing centers in Brazil, India, and the Netherlands.
The announcement was made at the "Uber Türkiye Global Technology Development and Software Center Launch Event," hosted at Istanbul’s Esma Sultan Mansion.
The event was attended by Turkish Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, President of the Presidential Investment and Finance Office Ahmet Burak Daglioglu, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, and Uber Chief Technology Officer Praveen Neppalli Naga.
Following the opening addresses, Uber and the Presidential Investment and Finance Office signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at supporting the company’s investment initiatives in Türkiye.
With the establishment of this new hub, Türkiye is set to play a strategic role within Uber’s worldwide software development network.
The company intends to channel over $200 million into the Istanbul-based center over the next five years.
During his keynote, Uber CEO Khosrowshahi lauded Istanbul as "one of the most extraordinary cities in the world — a place of energy, creativity, and connection."
Reflecting on the company’s decade-long presence in Turkey, he added, “Our mission was very simple: to make it easier for people to move around in their cities.”
